Children’s Feet

  • Children’s Feet

Developmental changes within the feet and lower limbs continue to occur from birth until the end of adolescence. Some children are prone to certain conditions as a result of these changes. Our podiatrists have a thorough understanding of the factors contributing to such conditions and will advise an individually tailored treatment plan to meet their needs.

Pain in your child’s feet should not be considered normal. Quite often this is diagnosed as “growing pains”, when this could in fact be a common foot condition with a simple treatment.

Our clinicians are experienced in paediatric conditions such as:

  • Flat feet / pronation / rolling in
  • Severs (heel pain)
  • Intoed walking (pigeon toe walking)
  • Toe walking (walking on tiptoes)
  • Paediatric bunions
  • Shin splints
  • Odd shaped toes (curly toes)
  • Ingrown toenails
  • Warts

Treatment may include specific exercises, footwear advice, orthotics or splinting devices. Sometimes, however, the best treatment for children is not to treat. The team at Queensland Foot Centres will guide parents based on strict principles of paediatric care and development.
